The London-bound flight crashed into a medical college near the airport moments after takeoff, triggering a massive fire. Several students on the ground also lost their lives.

India’s Home Minister, Amit Shah, confirmed the lone survivor is Vishwashkumar Ramesh, a 40-year-old British national of Indian origin. He is in stable condition at a local hospital.

“Out of 230 passengers and 12 crew members, only one has survived. I personally met with him,” Shah said.

Most bodies have been recovered. DNA testing is ongoing to help identify the victims, with families abroad contacted to assist.

The crash site was engulfed in smoke and flames, complicating rescue efforts. Indian and international experts, including Boeing, continue investigating the cause.

Tata Group, owner of Air India, announced compensation of ₹1 crore (about $116,000) for each family of the deceased and pledged support to victims’ families.
